Every plan includes a 14-day trial, no credit card, with nothing held back. Broadcast software is judged by doing one real stream, so the trial is the whole app rather than a watermarked version of it.

You can own it outright
$249 buys the app permanently plus twelve months of new versions. When that year is up it keeps working forever on the version you have, and $79 buys another twelve months whenever you want them, including years later. You are never locked out of software you bought.
A subscription is a rental, and we will say so
Cancel a subscription and the app stops. That is the trade for the lower entry price, and it is exactly why the lifetime option exists beside it. Blurring the two would make the lifetime price impossible to justify.
No feature tiers
Everything described anywhere on this site is in every paid licence, and in the trial. No upgrade prompt halfway through a take, and no discovering that multi-camera costs extra the week you need it.
The licence never interrupts a broadcast
It is checked when the app starts, never during a recording or a stream, and it keeps working for a month with no connection at all. A venue with bad wifi is not going to cost you a show.

How much does Watercourse cost?
$12 a month, $99 a year, or $249 once. All three buy the same app: there are no feature tiers, and everything on this site is in every paid licence.
Is there a free trial?
Fourteen days, with no credit card and nothing held back. It is the whole app rather than a watermarked version of it, because broadcast software is judged by doing one real stream. Starting the trial asks for an email address.
What does the lifetime licence actually include?

What happens if I cancel a subscription?
The app stops. That is what a subscription is, and it is the reason the lifetime option exists. If you would rather not be in that position, buy it once.
Do my guests need to pay?
No. Only the person running the show needs a licence. Guests open the same app, enter a room code, and appear in your scene.
How many computers can I use it on?
Two per licence, which is meant to cover a laptop and a studio machine. You can move a machine yourself without asking anyone.
Do I need an account?
There is no account and no login. A licence key is entered once, and starting a trial asks for an email address. Compositing, background replacement, audio mixing and encoding all happen on your machine, and there is no cloud storage and no upload queue.
What happens to my recordings if I stop paying?
Nothing. They were never held anywhere but your own disk. They are ordinary files in a folder you picked, playable in anything, whatever happens to your licence.
Which platforms is it available on?
macOS and Windows. Two features are narrower: system audio capture needs macOS 13 or later, or Windows, and the virtual camera is macOS only.
